Elburgon Sub-county Hospital

The first phase of the 150-bed modern maternity wing at the Elburgon sub-County Hospital in Molo will be complete by mid this year.

The Ksh. 40 million facility will have a modern theater to offer quality essential and emergency care to mothers and babies.

The facility is expected to ease maternal congestion at the Elburgon and Molo sub-County hospitals.

Statistics from the county’s Health Department have shown that maternal deaths in Nakuru County have dropped with over 30 per cent as healthcare improves.

Governor Lee Kinyanjui has prioritized healthcare improvement in his development agenda, as listed in his 2017 pre-election manifesto.

The County Government of Nakuru has allocated 32 per cent, amounting to Ksh. 6.3 billion, of its total budget to healthcare financing in the 2019/20 financial year.

Over Sh1 billion will be used in infrastructural upgrade across the County. The remainder will go towards the purchase of drugs and equipment, hiring of staff, training and promotions.

Already, Governor Lee’s administration has advertised for over 380 job offers across various cadres in the health sector.

Upgrade of health facilities is ongoing in other parts of the County.
