Laikipia County Natural Points of Interest For Tourists

Laikipia is not a county where you will find yourself deprived of thrilling events. The place is heaven on earth with lots of interesting points suitable for nature lovers and thrill seekers.

From horse safaris in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy to sessions with the last northern white rhinos. Enjoy swimming through the gin-clear waters of the rooftop pools in various hotel establishments, there really is something for everyone.

And with so many trips to be made, how can you possibly decide which one to include in your trip?

Hey, we ‘re here to help, and we’ve already rounded up some of our favorite spots to set foot in Laikipia. Start building your own dream getaway.

Meet The Jumbos Of Mt. Kenya National Park

There’s no better place to start than Kenya’s majestic and popular Mt. Kenya National Park Big.

We’re not sure if there’s a more spectacular place to see wildlife anywhere in the world and watch these majestic elephants graze on the green grass of Mt. Kenya National Park in front of the incredible backdrop of Mount Kenya, the second highest mountain in Africa.

Mt. Kenya National Park and the Ngare Ndare Forest are some of the most lush landscapes you’ll find in Kenya. So it’s no surprise they’re attracting these prominent pachyderms to their green pastures.

Big Tuskers are called (you might have known it) because of the massive tusks they carry and some grow to more than 1.5 meters in size!

Rare Sightings

Despite Africa’s sad history of poaching, it’s a rare sight to see these older elephants. That makes seeing them all the more unique.

It’s not just an elephant that you’ll see here. In addition, you bump into the black rhino, lion, an assortment of big cats, spotted hyena, giraffe, zebra, and a variety of other must-see safari..

There are some beautiful spots to stay in the area and there’s something for every budget.

We love Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari ClubMaiyan  and Mutara Camp. You’ve got to add them into one of your trips!

Laikipia does exactly what it says on the tin, whisking you from the wildlife-rich tropical rain forest, to the famous, sweeping plains of Laikipia, onto beautiful camps before ending with a cosy night in the exquisite hotel rooms.

If you want to tick of a host of ‘must-see before you die’ destinations then Laikipia will be just the ticket. Combining those Kenyan wonders with bucket-trip worthy bush trekking in the wilderness.

Live the life that you love and love the life that you live. Enjoy each moment.

YOLO

Guaranteed Comfort

This amazing county is well recognized for its incredibly rich heritage. In addition, we believe one of the most interesting and enjoyable activities to do in Laikipia is to read more about its vibrant tribes and indigenous peoples.

In the remote hills west of Laikipia, in the Aberdare Ranges, you’ll find the colorful, luxurious Sweetwaters Serena Camp. The camp is located on  50 acres of leased land within Ol Pejeta Conservancy.

The rough landscape in the area is also exciting to explore, especially for those who really want to get off the beaten track and away from the crowds.

Nature Life

Cross the ranges on horses or camels, or walk the slopes in search of elephants, oryxes, zebras and giraffes; it’s a landscape like no other. Ol Pejeta conservancy is managed as a wildlife Sanctuary, including the endangered black and white rhinos, leopard, elephant, buffalo and lion.

Other wildlife includes Grevy’s zebra, Jackson’s hartebeest, cheetah and chimpanzee. The Conservancy works to conserve wildlife and provide a sanctuary for Chimpanzees. Sweetwaters Serena Camp is an Eco Rated Facility.

Being so serene, the choice of accommodation is much broader than somewhere like  Loisaba and this region absolutely promotes quality over quantity!

Ol Pejeta Conservancy Limited  offers a rhino tracking experience like no other, Mt Kenya Wildlife Estate brings elegance with its luxe human wildlife themed interactions, and guests at Comfort Gardens  enjoy peace, tranquility and wonderful animal sightings in the beautiful sunset.
