Man has left his family in Ruguti village, Igambang’ombe Sub County, Tharaka Nithi County, in a gloomy mood after killing himself last night by hanging in the house over his cheating wife.

Josec Kimathi, a 42-year-old father of two, and his wife, Regina Kawira, reportedly had a falling out, and yesterday the wife left the house without saying a word and refused to answer Kimathi’s calls.

Kimathi would spend the day at Itugururu market, where he has a barber shop, while attempts to contact his wife to find out where she was failed because her phone went unanswered.

Kimathi had to close his business later in the evening to return home and brief his mother on their mounting troubles with his wife, so one of their children had to pick up their shopping to prepare for supper.

“He arrived home in the evening and inquired if my phone had enough airtime to reach his wife, claiming she had been idle at Itugururu market all day before departing.” “I informed him that even if I had airtime, I wouldn’t waste it phoning her because her problems had become a nuisance,” she explained.

After going to bed, the mother alleges she was awoken about 3 a.m. by Kimathi’s child, who said their father was threatening to commit suicide, claims she did not take seriously until the child returned sobbing for the second time.

She then notified her other son, Peter Muriithi, who rushed in with their cousin and stormed into the house, only to discover their brother’s dead hanging inside.

Kimathi penned a suicide note in which he accused his wife of being unfaithful and thus the reason for his suicide.

The Suicide Note

In his suicide note, he urges his wife to stay at their home and raise their two children without interference or disruption from any of his family members, a note he also requested be read during his burial ceremony.

“If I die, it will be because of my wife, Munene. However, this is her home, so let her focus on raising our children, and let no one speak badly of or intimidate her “reads the note in sections

“My wife, on the other hand, will completely forget about your parents’ place in order to focus on your children at our marriage home.

My son Munene owns the television and barbershop equipment that I left behind “reads the suicide note further.

Kimathi has since been transported to the mortuary at Chuka County Referral Hospital.
