Two vocal Baringo Jubille Party MCAs were on Thursday summoned by the Director of Criminal investigations (DCI) in Kabarnet to record statements for allegedly undermining the President.

The two MCAs Reuben Chepsongol (Bartabwa) and Silas Tochim (Tenges) recorded statements at Kabarnet police station after they were summoned by the DCI for allegedly undermining and disrespecting the president through a video clip which went viral early last month.

In the video clip the two Jubilee party county legislators were recorded accusing the head of state for always making his speeches while angry and sometimes under the influence of something.

However, the duo while addresing the press at Kabarnet town today morning, said that they suspect that the summons might have been politically instigated due to their staunch support for DP William Ruto’s 2022 presidential aspirations.

Tochim called upon members of the civil society and the clergy to rise to the occasion and condemn the surpression and intimidation of freedom of speech.

Chepsongol accused Baringo County Commissioner Henry Wafula for being behind the summons, saying that their freedom of speech as politicians will not be gagged.
