Mt. Huangshan National Park of the Huangshan City enters a Sister Park Agreement with Mt. Kenya National Park.
Meru County Governor, H.E. Kiraitu Murungi and Mr. Wu Wenda, the Executive Director of Mt. Huangshan Administrative Committee signed the agreement on behalf of the two institutions.
The aim of the Sister Park Agreement is to promote international cooperation and support for the mutual benefit of both parks.
UNESCO World Heritage Sites
Mt Kenya and Mt Huangshan are both UNESCO World Heritage Sites and UNESCO Man and Biosphere Reserves.
They have a great biodiversity habitats. For example cherished landscapes, natural and cultural resources.This arrangement would improve tourists ‘ influx into Mt Kenya National Park and create more jobs for local residents.
The agreement signed with Mr. Wu Wenda, the Administrative Committee’s Executive Director of Mt. Huangshan, would pave the way for closer interaction between the park management authorities.
Through learning from the success of Huangshan Park, the County Government of Meru is seeking to understand and leverage the huge tourism potential of Mt. Kenya National Park.
Huangshan City
Huangshan City (Yellow Mountains City) receives up to 67 million tourists annually.
They have benefited greatly from a variety of products and opportunities. Such as cable car technology, mountain climbing, and other automated means of accessing mountain peaks more quickly, easily and comfortably.
There are also many five-and six-star hotel facilities, among others.
The Meru County Government seeks to establish investor partnerships to establish such facilities in Mt. Kenya, as well as to open up Meru to an increasing number of tourists from the vast Chinese population.
The establishment of sister parks between Mt. Huangshan and Mt.Kenya and the exchange and cooperation between Huangshan city and Meru County in cultural and sports tourism cannot be separated from the strong support of the Ministry of Wildlife and Tourism and other departments.

The Chinese delegation commended their Kenyan counterparts for their “very good work in protecting wild animals and plants. While also practicing ecotourism, which has been recognized by the entire world.”
