Meru County Governor H.E. Kiraitu Murungi has this evening received praise and commendations for his reconciliation efforts in the County, from Meru County Civil Societies Network (MCCSN), an umbrella body for all Meru NGOs, CBOs and FBOs.

The organization, through its Chairman Mr. Chris Imwere, said that they are immensely impressed by the Governor’s achievement of uniting Njuri Ncheke which was bitterly split into two factions, as well as uniting all MCAs and other leaders in the County to work together irrespective of the many political parties and affiliations through which they were elected.

The network also lauded the Governor for midwifing the County Vision 2040, which they said they are studying to establish areas of cooperation in its implementation to transform Meru.

On his part, Governor Kiraitu welcomed MCCSN on board the Making Meru Great train, asking them to organize and register in order to be fully involved in the various structures of governance his administration has put in place, starting from the Ward Development Committees at the Ward level.

The Governor said this will play a critical role in sensitization of residents on their rights as well as civic education and importance of public participation exercises.

Governor Kiraitu added that his administration fully welcomes the network to collaborate and work closely through the specially established liaison departments of External Linkages and Special Programs, which he said are staffed with personnel of vast experience and knowledge from the NGO world.
