A police officer based at Nanyuki police station is recovering at Mathari Mission Hospital in Nyeri County after injuring himself when jumped of a window from his house at the police lines at night.

According to Laikipia County police commander Maxwell Nyaema, the officer who is his secretary was sleeping in the house where he is alleged to have walked while dreaming and jumped out the window.

The incident happened at around 2200hours on Monday night at Nanyuki police lines where the officer identified as Harrison Karagu jumped through the window and as a result he sustained deep cuts on his both arms and legs.

The County Police Boss who spoke on Phone said the officer was rushed to Nanyuki Teaching and Referral hospital for first aid before being transferred to Mathari hospital.

The police commander ruled out any possibility of the officer trying to commit suicide, adding that he was a very hardworking and responsible officer.

A colleague who did not wish to be named because he is not authorized to address the media said Karagu could not have attempted to commit suicide as he could have chosen to jump from the roof top of the three story building.

It is now left for the officer to get well and probably give an account of what could have been the dream and what made him run away while asleep.

Officers at the police station who were still in shock following the incident are still thinking over the narrative of dreaming because such things happen to different people.
