Suspect accused of assaulting his brother has been charged with pressing his genitals, causing him actual bodily harm, in Milimani Law Courts.
Collins Cheruyot, the suspect, is accused of assaulting his brother Allan Sang in Nairobi’s Upper Hill neighborhood after allegedly stealing his phone and money.
Sang reported to the police that his older brother Collins stole his phone worth Ksh9,399 and his national identification card, according to a police report read in court by State Prosecutor James Gachoka.
Collins is also said to have taken out a Ksh12,316 Mshwari loan over the phone, and when he found out that his brother had reported the matter to the Capital Hill police station, he allegedly assaulted him by pressing his testicles and biting his finger.
Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi, on the other hand, was forced to postpone the accused’s sentencing after the suspect became ill in court and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The matter will be mentioned on February 24, 2022 for further directions.
In an almost similar incident, a middle-aged man in Koru, Kisumu County on Friday, committed suicide by setting himself ablaze inside his vehicle. Venus Amimo who has been reportedly working as a civil contractor is said to have been having issues in his marriage.
According to reports, Amimo had returned home on Thursday night but the suspect did not find his wife. He allegedly waited till about 2:00 am when he reportedly left his house.
“Recently, his marriage has been in the doldrums. On Thursday night, he returned home to find that his wife had not returned and that the children were all alone. He later left the house at 2:00 a.m., ostensibly in search of her, and when he failed to find her, he returned to the house and set himself ablaze inside his green car,” according to the police report.
A neighbour reported that the wife returned home after she was informed of her husband’s death.
“His body was found outside his house by neighbours,” a neighbour said.
The deceased is reported to have sent a suicide text message to a close friend, saying his wife had caused his suffering and that he was going to leave her and the children.
The body was moved to the morgue as police officers launched investigations into the whole incident.
